This is actually in response to "All Created Less Equal". I didn't see a place to comment.
I agree that racism is everywhere and the people on "Big Brother" faced the issue head on. The controversial parts of reality shows are the reality part. However, I believe a lot of the stuff is staged and rehearsed.
There are times when what is planned takes a different turn and goes too far. I'm sure the stage crew hopes for an entertaining show, but I don't think they always expect what happens. Real emotions do pour out.
I don't think the show intentionally wanted to bring up the racist comments to offend anyone because that's when people start suing or leave the show. I guess that's good for the other contestants who want to win, but is it ethical and moral?
You are right that these issues are present everywhere. Even when reality t.v. shows have hidden cameras or maybe leave stuff out, a lot of the issues are real, maybe just not the way they are handled or displayed.
I am commenting on to "All Created Less Equal" also! I also agree that there is racism everywhere, and I believe that it will always be there no matter what the case may be. On another note I know for a fact that half of the stuff that happens on reality shows is staged and rehearesed.
Look at American Idol for example. I think that ahead of time they sit and plan out all of these people acting like fools. It is sad to think that most of those people think they have a chance when they don't. Sometimes there are other circumstances and other things do happen.
I also don't think that the show intentionally wanted to bring the racist card out because people try to use it all the time. In reality tv things that people do not understand that you see the worst and best of people sometimes because it is their life and how they are living it. I know for a fact that they do leave a lot of information out, and do that on purpose so other people don't see their true side.
I despise reality tv. Especially ones which people are living together (her cooking) everyone is gonna argue about their differences and the fact that most of what people argue about isn't appropriate for tv and they edit it out is stupid. If it's going to be reality tv and people are arguing about race and culture than they should be airing that stuff because maybe our society will see how strong either sides of the argument are and it might lead to improvement in the issue. If real people are fighting about that stuff, than how they REALLY feel should be aired and if people dont like it.....DONT WATCH IT......the illusion of all reality tv has got our society in an illusion of disbelief..meaning we want to think it's reality because that's the subtitle, but we need to take in account that people have differences and it should be a False Advertisement if they're going to edit it.
