Not So Funny

Despite the sometimes serious nature of broadcast television one station has managed to maintain it's giggly audience. In a recent article posted March 28, 2007 for the New York Times, Comedy Central's prime-time show ratings have increased 12 months in a row with 70 percent of its viewers being male. Shows like "South Park," and "The Daily Show with Jon Stewart," continue to attract audiences and attention for the network. Just recently, a new line-up of shows including, "The Colbert Report," and "The Sarah Silverman Program," with its sarcastic humor have scored some of the best first-season ratings in the channel's history.
My opinion is simply that I love Comedy Central. I wish this article would have mentioned The Dave Chappelle Show which I am sure raised ratings when it was airing brand spanking new episodes earlier in the year. I hope that Comedy Central will continue to keep its watchers laughing.

Media News Down in the Dumps

In a recent article posted by Poynteronline's Media Business Analyst, Rick Edmonds the audience volume for newspapers, cable television, network news, and online news has fallen off. Between June 2005 and June 2006, those people who claimed they received their news fix from online sources dropped from 34 to 27 percent; this information obtained from a Pew Research Center report. The State of the News Media 2007 which was released by the Project for Excellence in Journalism reported such findings, but was unable to find the exact cause of these changes.
In my opinion, I feel people are too busy woking and paying taxes to watch the news. And then it's so depressing when you actually do get a chance to get enlightened. Most of the time you just find yourself turning on Channel 4 just long enough to get that very useful information located at the very bottom of the page which is the present temperature outside because with this ever changing Florida weather you might just need a coat as well as the time because who wants to be late for work or school. Star Jones A Star Again?

In an article posted for CNN's news website, previous co-host of the daytime show "The View", Star Jones Reynolds has landed her own daily talk show to be aired on Court TV sometime this fall. The show will combine criminal justice and political issues with pop culture which will definitely broaden the lineup choices for daytime TV. Reynolds who began on "The View" in 1997 refused to give any comments about the show breakup and vindication but wished the present hosts the best and that hoped they'd do the same for her.
In my opinion, I believe that this is great for Star Jones. All things happen for a reason right? I'm just worried about the number of people who actually watch Court TV. I know I don't. Ha! You know the deal, click the link:

The Simpsons

In a recent article published by The Age Company, the 18 year running show, The Simpsons is still going on strong. The Simpsons with its characters that never age are liked by the American audience it so graciously rants at, but the show is loved by those without U.S citizenship. Austrailians, Canadians and other foreigners are passionate about the show. Writer, Mark Reiss believes Americans have the problem of not being able to laugh at themselves which is the main target of The Simpsons' humor. Good 'ole American jokes. And with many Hollywood stars including Michael Jackson having appeared on the show on past episodes, and many others wanting to do voice-ups, The Simpsons will continue to keep it fresh and new especially with a new movie release soon approaching in July.
I personally recall watching The Simpsons as I was growing up way back in the day. I always had this dream that I'd be Lisa. She was my inspiration and lead me to play the alto saxophone when I was in elementary school. Pretty corney, huh? But on a more serious note I think The Simpsons movie is way overdue and should definitely be a hit. What is Controversial?

In a recent article published by The Age Company, well known Google search engine ended a controversial battle after shutting down a website that posted a death threat against a New Zealand politician. The country's government-run Child Youth and Family service has apparently been getting many angry comments from concerned citizens who were prompted to vent these frustrations on a messaging platform created by Google. After these messages began getting too serious the CYF called on the police claiming that these comments were putting them and their staff workers at risk. Google was then notified of the confusion and in defense began to censor such postings. And after one blog threatened the life of a politician Google then was forced to completely rip the website.
My opinion on this is just because you don't hear it doesn't mean it's not there. Sure they can rid the site away altogether but the way people feel whether they want to murder the politician or not is still there so the problem has not really been resolved. It's just invisible. Hear no evil speak no evil is the saying. So I think Google should put that blog back up so that the people can hear the evil and speak the evil. Lol!
